By now, most everyone has noticed at least one of the three new Doggie Waste stations placed strategically in our Roxborough Park community. One is along the paved path for Roxborough Drive on the east side of the golf course, a second is long the paved path on the west side, and the third is near the mail pod on the path along Roxborough Drive North.
Easily identified by the blue plastic bags that almost look like the ears of a happy hound, the stations were purchased with funds from the 2009 Environmental Committee’s budget (in fact, it’s all the money EC had). Made from weather-resistant recycled materials, the stations are waterproof, making them easier for staff to maintain. The Environmental Committee is trying to raise money for more Doggie Waste stations through the sale of stainless steel water bottles. So pitch in by treating yourself to a new, safer and environmentally-friendly water bottle for yourself, your family and friends. They make great holiday gifts too. See the flyer/order form in this issue of Echoes and at www.Roxborough-Park.com/Enviro. It's easier than ever to clean up after your dogs. In addition to the new dog waste stations, you can help keep our community clean and pleasant for you and your neighbors by having several bags with you when you leave home: - open bag and put your hand into it like a glove to pick up waste, then
- pull the open end of the bag down over your hand, turning the bag inside out. (Your hand stays clean and the mess stays inside.)
